A rather northern Western
There was in times past a bar in Grasmere which could on reflection have been a perfect setting for a Western movie. It had a boardwalk the length of the outside, in the centre were saloon style swing doors, on entering one saw round wood tables with wooden armchairs around them. The long bar faced you, behind it rows of mirrors interspersed with shelving. The shelves were completely bare save for one bottle in the centre with a legend on a piece of card resting against it – which read – ”for a man who likes a drink”. That bottle was . . . Methylated Spirits.
